This week’s lab was about following
the protocol from start to finish.
It
also gave me a sense of how much time was needed to finish the lab procedures
from beginning to end.
When I got
through the whole protocol and repeated it a 2
nd time, it felt
things were a little more streamlined and progressing right along.
When I got to the 3
rd time I
realized the amount of
Providencia
stuartii bacteria/TSB I had left was not enough to complete the entire
process.
Now that I know more TSB is
needed I will increase the amount of TSB at the beginning of each week, adjust
the protocols to show that change and continue collecting data.

Hang in there Mary, don't get frustrated in having to re-do a project multiple times the more times you re-do a project the best and better quality you will have at the end of your project (:
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jasmine I appreciate the encouragement. You are completely right, the more I repeat the experiment the better quality data I get. There has definitely been a lot of repeating but I have learned a lot along the way. I’m hoping that come poster and presentation time I will do a good job at explaining my experiment and results.
DeleteHey Mary, how are you holding up with handling eggs? I remember you mentioning to me that the smell of them and using them more frequently has made you think twice about eating them! Hopefully, even though you may or may not like it, you have grown used to the smell so that it does not affect you as much. Good luck with this protocol :)
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda, I am doing great, thanks for asking. You remembered about me not eating any more eggs, that's funny. I have a love hate relationship with eggs at the moment. I stopped eating them as I was repeating the protocols for my experiment, they are now strictly lab materials. When the semester is over and I’m no longer gathering and analyzing data about egg white lysozyme, I will go back to eating them again.
